In Silouette

 HALLOWEEN GREETINGS !

Shadows can be so captivating in a variety of ways. There is something mesmerizing about silhouette, it evoke a sense of mysteries, so much is left to the imagination.

The last two weeks of October had me stitching these

32ct Linen in white and DMC 310

 Finishing stitched size 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" . After some hours  and layers of spray painting in clear lacquer, silvery grey, black and final top paint with clear lacquer and some sun later, I left it hanging on my front gate pillar for a couple of hours until just before  rain came.

Here's a collage from a family outing to Genting Highland,  taking advantage of a public holiday for a Muslim festivity mid month.

It's outdoor theme park was closed for refurbishment into a Twenty Century Fox theme park to be reopen in 2 years and so the kids went for archery at it's indoor park The indoor ambience consisting of some creative remake of world's landmarks and offers adventures and thrill rides also houses a Ripley's Believe It- Or- Not museum besides a Haunted Adventure and  real stores for shopping. Since it was nearing Halloween, we found some ghostly and ghastly figures walking around pulling pranks on unsuspecting people. On our way home we stopped at our favourite restaurant  for dinner along the Karak Highway

The new beginning

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful great start to 2013 and I want to thank  everyone  from the bottom of my heart for following me along on my crafting adventures and the occasional journey in life. Big thank you especially to you who stop to leave me with your lovely comments, it meant a lot to me for your words inspire me to keep on blogging and sharing this passion.

The days before Christmas
I thought I could end my post for the year with my Christmas post but there was this one ornament that got left out, not intentionality but because it didn't arrive when it should and I had the postie to blame for the delay it caused.

The design is actually from a Black Cat Silhouette, I used variegated threads on this kitty hoping to get it to resemble the fur of a Siamese kitty, and I failed miserably didn't I?

It wasn't even close enough although I had one living right under my eyes, that's my princess, LOL

I also finished this into a Bell shape and keeping the design clean and simple by adding only  lace and a tiny bell for the kitty's neck

At the very least,  I gave kitty its signature blue eyes and added a bit of holly? For that added Christmassy touch. It’s after all a Christmas Ornie for Jess W and I stole this snap from Jess too when I forgot to snap a closeup before I mail. Thanks Jess ;P

One last final finish. This was from last year's, never got to finish it then. Backing was in green velvet. No fancy finishing for this.

On Christmas day, we were at  Genting Highlands Resort for an evening with the Australian Bee Gees. Glad the kids enjoyed it too and they recognized some of their songs to actually sing along.

 My first attempt at baking a Fruit Cake, I am naming it, Crumble Fruit Cake, because half of it actually did crumble like this, LOL. Another disaster from my kitchen. I haven't figured it out where have I gone wrong.

This was dinner the evening before we left for Genting, Bake Chicken and Shitake Mushroom with Mashed Potatoes, my version of a one pot dish.

The New Year's

No, I did not pen down my resolutions. I am not a resolution type of a person. I rather put things into action with whatever ideas that came racing into my head and see it materialized rather than staring into a piece of paper over what need to be done.  It's also the last few days to prep things for DD who has been conscript to join the compulsory (once selected)  National Service for 3 months.

 Surprisingly, I manage some few hours of quiet time to stitch this WIP from over a year ago.  Once Upon A-Time the final chart of three, Hope. Although that few hours was from a day, I did get some good amount of progress on this. I will need a couple more hours of a day or two, I hope. Until another update then.

Our little getaway

We took off  to a hilly resort  just the two of us without the kids.  It was cold and foggy this time.

Where should I begin?

Have you been wondering what is keeping me so busy that there was no news of me for weeks and I didn't even visit you?

A lot has been happening here, stressful and crazy at times juggling between work dateline, kids and housework. I have been feeling sluggish at times. Weather has been lousy, gloomy by mid day followed with rain almost daily.  Then the pc which is only 8 months died on me after rebooting  for like two days and  the technician had to come 3 times in a week before got it fixed, today. Mom is currently recovering from a severe leg pain that affected her ability to walk for almost two weeks. Now that she is walking again, its up to her to remember all the dos and don't. It was a scary and intense week for all of us when  we feared she will never walk .

In between all the hoo-ha, DH surprised me with a short break to Genting Highland Resort,  2 nites at Highland Hotel with a great view of the lush green forest and the cable car insight. I took my Christmas stitching with me. This picture was taken at 7am from the room balcony. Looked at the fog! Its brrr...cold!

And the Indoor Atrium at First World is just like a city within a building that never sleeps. All the shops are having a great Christmas sales too

I attended the 8th Annual charity dinner for needy pupils again, also because my boss is the Vice Chairman  and Diane's Yamaha Piano examination and performance at a mall's opening is also done with and I am almost done with my Christmas stitching  while my WIPs take a set back . In fact I haven't been stitching any of my WIP  since my last last post. Some of the Christmas stitching are going away, I can only reveal later then.

Chinese New Year will be early next year, approximately a month after Christmas and while shopping for some home furnishings taking advantage of the Christmas sales I couldn't resists these fabrics.

Some days ago, I mailed out my first exchange of the year, a Christmas Box with HOE, I think this box turned out rather nicely, now my only hope is that it will arrive safely and quickly, hopefully next week I get to hear some news of it and hope that my partner likes what I sent her. Until then I will not be able to post pictures.

The last piece of stitching is not mine but a wonderful gift from Mylene, the design is from the JCS Christmas Ornament 2010 issue, correct me if I am wrong and finishing it into a flatfold is simply perfection . Thank you so much Mylene. Its my perfect gift this season !

Dinner tonite, pan fried salmon on spinach with buttered bread. The slice of orange is to add color to the plate..LOL

This is just about what is going on with me the past few weeks. I am sure everyone is busy too with Christmas now just around the corner. Thank you everyone who continue to come by and took time to leave me your comments I so appreciate.

An update on Mary

I have finally moved on to Part 4 after some weeks of pondering and stitching and frogging on Part 3, I had difficulty reading the chart, somehow lost. It has taken me awhile for me to decide how it should be or I think how it should be.

I did mentioned to share my 2 smalls that I was working on in my last posting, but can't for now coz' I forgot to take pictures of it.

Last weekend, we went away from the city to Genting View resort. Located at the foothills of Genting Highlands.Its been awhile we haven't been here. When the kids were younger,we were here like almost every weekend. Basically, for the pool.

The heated pool, somehow the water is not as warm as before and there is always no crowds or minimal if there wereJust like private own, see now why the kids loved it then? after all its less than 30 mins drive away from home and 30 mins to my Inlaws home View from the balcony in the evening

After the dip, we went for some hot stuff, spicy noodles at Restaurant 99 in Gotong Jaya, we were recommended to this shop by friends

I am having a rather busy week both at work and at home. DH came down with a sore throat followed with flu and fever that worries me alot. He is feeling better now. So relieved that it is not the dreaded HINI. I am going away for the weekend. Do come back to check on the result of my giveaway .

Weeks before Christmas

Time flies by and I am practically left with not enough of it. I hoped everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a marvelous feast and some great holiday time with your loved ones.

I've got here are some photos from my recent short holiday trips on 2 different locations.The trip to Cameron
Highlands.

Midway, there's this waterfall. Cameron Highland a very popular holiday destination famous for its tea plantations, vegetable and flowers farms and not forgetting its strawberries farms. Used to be a quiet little holiday retreat but now I find everything very much commercialize.

Our harvest from one of the Strawberries farm. There's yummy strawberry cream, strawberry sundae , strawberry waffle, strawberry keychain, strawberry pillow, strawberry slippers, strawberries everything.

The trip to Genting Highlands which is the nearest to home. One that we like to sort of pop over every now and then for a get away from the city for some fresh, cool mountain air. This time we took the cable car ride instead of driving all the way uphill.

Animals always facinates DD including birds and sea creatures.
