Hail the mighty Dragon

In between getting preoccupied with the festivity preparation during the week, I receive news of my aunt, Julie's passing on Tuesday morning. She was 73, a nurse by profession. I had very fond memories of her. Memories of yesteryears,  that many years ago of my year end school holidays on her durian orchard.  The feast with grandma and aunt busy in the kitchen and me always ended up with the Chicken drumstick. Playing mischief with my Cousin Peter, keeping an eye or rather 'an ear' for durians falling. If you are wondering, durians do fall with a 'thud' on the ground and the race with  Peter to search for the fallen fruit. Strangely, she has been constantly on my mind since Christmas. it's like me having a sixth sense of sort.  During her wake,  Peter told me that she hasn't been well physically and later mentally since her operations two months ago. A very active lady, I supposed being bed ridden is hard for her to accept mentally.

May your soul rest in eternal peace.
You will always be fondly remembered with love.

The eve is today, the dragon will take its throne soon!
The kitchen is the most busiest since breaking dawn and MIL will be preparing and cook her signature dishes, but first prayer offerings to the ancestors. As everyone is aware of its significance, all family members are back and will gather for the reunion.

Closer to midnight, firecrackers will be blasting everywhere to usher the new beginning and welcoming the God of Wealth.

Made some final bakes during the week.
Sorry the picture lighting is bad.
what did you see? A bird ? no a cat or maybe a dog? actually it does look like a pig ?
how about aliens ? ..LOL. Its supposed to be HORLICK Doggie cookies. So where's my puppies? Its my first attempt and manually mould and such was the results when in between moulding I had to watch the time to fetch Diane from her tuition, that's my excuse and Diane had other ideas of her own.

Recipe adapted from  here

Sad Monday

I begin my new week with news of an aunt's passing, the eldest sister to my FIL at age 87. She's also god-mum to DH. Her passing came unexpected to us thou her health has deteriorate quite rapidly since the beginning of the year due to a fall three years back. She's the sweetest lady I've came to know in the family. DH who is currently away on business could not return to attend the 'wake'. And so, I went alone to Sasaran, a little fishing town about an hour's drive from home. All family members from FIL side of the family attended the 'wake' including both my In-laws.

The office renovation by today is 90% complete but most importantly, office life is finally back to normal. No more excuses and blaming the renovation work.

On Tuesday, I received a package that cheer me up a bit. This adorable ornament from Amy for my HoE Early Christmas Ornament Exchange. She stitched me a cute tree with buttons that co-ordinate very nicely. Thank you so much Amy. Today is the last day of school nation wide and last day of the mid-term exam for Diane, the final paper, her fav subject maths. How I wished tomorrow is today or Monday coz's its the King's Birthday tomorrow, another nation's public holiday. Since I worked 5 days, it makes no difference to have a public holiday on a Saturday. 'sigh' I've promised the kids a day out in town tomorrow as there will be no classes of whatsoever for the kids !

I haven't been very productive, stitching wise during the week. Am still awaiting news of 2 mails I sent out before I can share pictures. I did finish something small that was one of the 2 mails and am currently working on another 'cannot show yet' stitching.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me your comments in my last post. The cone pizza is the first of its kind for me too. Diane says its super yummy, and coming from a 14 year old, I guessed IT IS yummy! LOL. Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend !

So many things so little time

I have been quiet, have been busy trying to get things done at work..datelines to meet before I go on my year end and also have been busy crafting and stitching . Hoping that I could get some of my WIP stitching done. There are promisses made to the kids too which need to be fullfilled.

There are couple of BDEs due in November, don't think I could make it in time for sending out too. Will reveal why after mid of November.

20th October 2005 ...A gloomy day for all Malaysian

Malaysia's 5th Prime Minster, YB Dato' Seri Abdullah Badawi's wife, the First lady, Datin Seri Endon passed away in the morning after battling with breast cancer for sometime.

Life is so fragile. She is always seen smiling but truly no one knows how she had suffered.
For all the good she has done, may god bless on her.
