Eighty, life's special milestone

after weeks of prepping; the cuppies tier, the invitation, the wrapping of gifts, the day finally came.

August 12th marks Mom's 80th Birthday. Celebrating the 80th birthday is a deep rooted Chinese tradition . It mark life's special milestones, an age to be proud of and a celebration to signify long life. We choose Six Happiness Restaurant out of convenience for its location.

The Celebration : Its a reunion of sort for mom, where ex-colleagues, close  relatives and friends came from as far as the North to join us, they came and met twenty years ago too.

Every guest upon entering received a hard boiled egg dyed in red which symbolized celebrating life

Now presenting to you my cupcake tier consisting of the yummilicious Red Velvet and  Chocolate Moist cuppies with Cream Cheese Frosting, holding up for a total of 80 cuppies.

Upper tier  sponge cake contributed by my Mermaid Aunt, well that what "Mei Yan Yee" is  literally translated to meant Mermaid in Cantonese dialect,  actually that's last aunt! Don't ask how her name came about, coz' we never asked.

I assumed its part of her name added 'Yee' (Aunt)  since there 's so many aunts around with Uncle No. 5 and yes, he is known by the number   !

The meal ended with 'Sau Pao' Peach Buns symbolizing longevity

The finale

Time flies when one is having a good time and so its time to bid farewell with a Thank you gift consisting of a Bowl, a spoon and a pair of chopsticks symbolizing good health and long life to the receiver being  handed out to all  guests.

Thank you for staying till the end, hope you enjoyed this birthday bash with a bit of custom and tradition, the Chinese way.
