Lighting a fire of excitement

A trip Diane and me made

travelling down South and crossing the Causeway for some excitement . Universal Studios Singapore is made up in seven distinct zones in the park: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar. All total the park boasts 24 rides and attractions, 18 of which are said unique to Universal Studios Singapore.

Kung fu Panda, Po greeted us on entering the Walk of Fame in the Hollywood zone replicates the gorgeous art nouveau buildings of 1940’s Hollywood and all of the glamour that went with the time period. The streets of Hollywood are lined with unique shops, such as Silver Screen Collectibles

The main attraction in this part was when we entered blindly to what was known as 'Lights! Camera! Action! hosted by Steven Spielberg' is a special effects show taking place in a stunning hurricane-over-what appear to be at a pier setting somewhere in New York during a category 5 hurricane : the water-, fire- and destruction-effects was awesome thou a bit slow motion and the sea behind some windows look very realistic. Hungry?? Coffee with yummy cupcakes on the menu Look what I found!!! Haberdashery complete with sewing machine, ribbons, laces and all . I could get some stash here..LOL

Leaving New York visitors emerge into Sci-Fi City, the perfect zone for fans of science fiction. Unfortunately this part was closed. Its main attraction was to be the Battlestar Galactica one of two unique roller coasters that twine together creating several “near misses” that are not only terrifying but also very symbolic of the battle between Humans and Cylons in the show.

From the future to the past, next we step into Ancient Egypt

the legs got left out because I was avoiding human heads ! Snap these while I was sitting cross legged and across the entrance waiting for Diane and An-an who both went in for their soul ripping ride, with 3-D animation of fire, crawling bugs and mummy rising! I was told I could have fainted if I had went on the ride known as the Mummies Revenge.

Me..eyes rolling....I didn't went along coz no bags ,pouch, cellphone, camera, sunglasses, caps and wat-nots- are allowed in and I don't fancy putting my purse in the locker. And we had all of those things. I wasn't the only person sitting on the pavement either. Young children are not allowed in too, so there was other parents with babies, toddlers and some young and not so young adults .

Trekking out of Ancient Egypt leads us even further back in time, to The Lost World

We were actually planning to ride the Canopy Flyer but the queue was an hour long. Not wanting to waste time, we skipped and proceeded to Dino-Soarin which was also a disappointment as the queue was equally long. We got turned off at the Water park as we weren't ready to be drenched wet from the boat ride. From the Lost World we wander into the world of fairy tales, known as Far Far Away. Based on the whimsical and hilarious movie Shrek, Far Far Away that house a 3-D Shrek movie Diane found the Frog Prince

We skipped the Madagascar zone which is based on the charming animated movie chronicling the antics of shipwrecked animals. Diane says its for kiddiesThere was lots of theme shops such as these in every zone.
Finally we had lunch at Chili's Grill and Bar Restaurant, we were so glad to be out of the blazing sun that day , we were melting like snowman..lol

Jeannette, school here is mandatory from age 7 onwards while pre-school can start from 3 years of age.

The fund raising is hope to lighten the burden of school going children whose parents are from the lower income group.
