Chinese New Year coincides with Valentine's Day this year and so my title reflects both the occasions . I shall take you on a mini tour and a glimpse of the festivity buzz."Chi Cheong Kai' , our very own Chinatown is a must visit for Chinese New Year things ranging from decorative ornaments to festive goodies. Usually, this time of the year, its buzzing with all things related to the festivity, walking down its street set you into the mood for the festivity totally.
The street that has been turned into a pedestrian walk and below, shops along the street.
Red ~ the symbolic color of auspiciousness.
Lucky Bamboo plants with its stem twisted into either a single or double eight for fatt or fatt~fatt ( meaning prosperity and double prosperity)
the ornaments, took too hastily as I was walking by with my cellphone
Bak kua (Dried meat either pork or chicken..shouldn't chicken be Kei Kua ?!!) , oops! foodie again..LOL anyway, its one of the famous gift giving item especially during the Chinese New Year 
Belly dancing anyone ? no, this is not Chinese New Year related..LOL, its from one of the shops along the Chi Cheong Kai that caught my eyes. Did I not mentioned that you can find all the famous branded goods here too ? Imitation of course, from watches such as Rolex to branded bags of LV, Prada, Gucci, you named it.
There's these Burmese or Gurkha traders who shared a portion of a shoplot among themselves to trade in gemstones and claimed that the stones are from Tibet, Burmese, India,Thailand and etc. 
strands that goes by the grams, don't you just loved the colors of turquoise ?
First asked for the price per gram, pick your strand, then get it weight and then offer your price, the trader may never always agree, so the bargaining begins...
Festive cookies and below, the must have, Mandarin oranges being imported into the country by the bulk came in all sizes and packaging are displayed only once a year, pic from one of the Hypermarkets
