Every year on the eve of Chap Goh Meh we make a trip to a small sleepy hollow town named Batu Arang which was a major coal-mining town in the early 20th century. The miners has long gone. The mines closed down around 1958 when diesel replaced coal as the main source of fuel.
As a result, buildings fell into disrepair or were torn down after they became unsafe because the ground had become riddled with cavities and mined passages. It is said that the entire town was built on a coal mine that still exist till this day. What's left today is a roundabout that leads to a little square where shops catering to its local population of about 2,000 .
This is the only restaurant that we always dine. The chef here attends to his customers personally by taking orders and then rushes to the back to cook.

On the last day at home, its steamboat to mark the end of the New Year.
I made a quick trip to Nagoya, the textile shop in the afternoon as I needed a piece of fabric to go with my HoE exchange, the fabric in my stash somehow doesn't looked good, or maybe its just an excuse for me to go shopping. Coincidently, Nagoya had a sale and I did not only found that one piece but these came home with me as well.
Valentine finishes is all done, just in time before February ends.

I like the 'apple' fabric. Didn't see it at Nagoya Ipoh. I stitched the PB valentine too, but haven't finished it yet. Think I'll borrow your idea of 'mini pillow' Lovely finishes indeed! :)
