Chinese New Year, the roundup

I have been contemplating for a long while if I should post this roundup. While the neighborhood usher the Chinese New Year with firecrackers and fireworks displays, we had a rather quite evening on the eve of Chinese New Year and the rest of the days that followed as we are still practicing abstaining in mourning on my FIL demise. This year marks the second year of his demise.  We also had to refrain from visiting just in case the people are superstitious of our visit, Chinese New Year is such an auspicious occasion and are term as  " red " (happy occasion related to auspiciousness and prosperity) while we are considered " black"  (mourning death). On the other hand, we are allowed to receive visitors if they  either do not believe in taboo or are oblivious of the tradition.

The third day is believed to be not a so auspicious day, as it's considered "The day of the Red Dog - Chi Gou Ri" aka The God of the Blazing Wrath. Ancient times believed that bad things will happen to people who run into the Red dog especially for the older elders who are superstitious. Therefore, people normally would stay in and avoid visiting people. However, times have change and the younger generations may not observe this day as a taboo, instead will take the opportunity since it's an extra holiday extended (as it's not auspicious to re-open business too on a 3rd day) for gatherings and meet up while I made it an occasion to visit temples and offer prayers.

Thereafter, it was lunch time and we headed to Kuala Kubu Bahru.
