Maldives of the East , a Travel Log

Koh Lipe is a small island which is the  Southern part of the Thai Andaman Sea. Apparently, on a clear day, Langkawi Island only 30km away is visible, famous for it's white sandy beaches and emerald waters. It's also been nicknamed Maldives of the East.  

We took a bus with 25 others instead of flying into Langkawi. By doing so, we get to go water rafting in Saturn, a Thai border town.  Sorry no pictures here as everyone was too busy getting into the waters.  LOL. It was fun and hilarious, not everyone complete the entire route as some choose to stop midway especially when their canoe overturned and some got swept by the mild current for about 50km, and that had us talking about it for the next two days

Walking Street - it's like a mini city on the Island and it's literally just walking and explore what it has to offer.

Souvenirs, seafood, yummy desserts, beach wear, beach gear and handycrafts. There's even a clinic and a 7-Eleven on the island and yes, live band everywhere

A place to just relax and unwind in the evening or simply get-together after dinner

Just look at that Emerald Green sea, where we went snorkeling from isle to isle. Here are some of the numerous isle that we explored.

Someone had tied corals on a string and left it there on one of the isle. I think it's so pretty.

This is the Isle where The Curse of the God of Tarutao.

One is forbid to remove or take any stones off this isle or you'll be cursed of all things bad; ill, misfortune , family shattered even life  threatening.

One can't stop to wonder where or how did the pebbles came to be on the isle. It's an isle with no sand/beach front but pebbles only.

Apparently the beach we are on is known as Sunset beach. There's a sunrise beach on the other side of the isle

and obviously, it's not on the beach where we were, no wonder there were no sunrise gazer in the early morning, LOL

Remember the doilies I crocheted and went to Hong Kong? Well, the package arrived and so sweet of Su See to sent me a picture of my crocheted doilies sitting among her collections.

and she surprise me with a Christmas package that I found waiting for me when I got home from my trip. Gorgeous personalize pouch and handmade purse plus stitching notions.  Oh yeeah! Christmas is here !

The Chinese are celebrating the Winter Solstice today with the aged old traditions of sweet savory and colorful Glutinous Rice Balls. Some families will have a feast to celebrate the festivity. On this day, it's a reminder that the year is coming to an end soon
